Richland is hosting a fantastic, healthy event this weekend! While there will be some temporary closures, the economic benefits and positive impact on the community will outweigh any inconveniences.
Best of luck to all 2,800 athletes competing on Sunday!
Hi Tony, I appreciate your comment. Now that Richland has seen how to do it, I would hope we’d adopt an event like it for local families. The Tour de Palm Springs includes bike events of 5 to 100 miles. Something for everyone. It ends with a one to three mile walk that accommodates disabilities. Thank you for reading the Observer. Randy
We have many such local events. Junior Triathlon for the kids, four multi sport events through the summer including an Olympic triathlon, tons of runs throughout the whole year from the Cable Ridge near Christmas to St Paddys day (including Leprechaun Dash for the kids) to Columbia Classic to Turkey Trot with so many 5k to marathons in between- and don’t forget the events like Chamna Chase that are off road- we have my favorite, The Columbia Crossing for swimmers and Bike Tri Cities and Chinook cycling club both have bike events throughout the year.
Groups like three river roadrunners, Nomad runners, and the bicycle clubs support the IronMan coming to the Tri Cities as it will hopefully encourage more participation.
Hi Andy, I appreciate your listing the smaller events that happen throughout the year in the Tri-Cities. Thank you for reading the Observer. Randy
