Unlike Kennewick and Pasco, the Richland City Council will not have their first regular September meeting. The city of Richland published the “meeting cancelled” notice a few hours before it closed for the Labor Day weekend.
Online public records, which begin with 2010, show that the Richland Council has met every Tuesday after Labor Day since at least 2010.
The city usually makes its city council agenda available to the public on the Friday afternoon before the meeting leaving little time for questions before Monday. So the Observer has been unable to ask why the Tuesday meeting was cancelled.
Richland has fewer meetings and shorter meetings than either Pasco or Kennewick. In addition, Richland councilmembers miss or attend remotely more meetings than either Kennewick or Pasco councilmembers.
Yes. That’s Richland.
Hi Leona, I appreciate your comment. Apparently, the Richland City Council wants to continue to be the Tri-City council with the least amount of meetings. Thank you for reading the Observer. Randy
Thank you for the update. I look forward to the next time I go to the ballot box.
Hi EJ,
I appreciate your comment. Yes, the November election is an important one. Thank you for reading the Observer. Randy
they wanted a mini vacation, with labor day and then tuesday and why did they not say something in the workshop?
Hi Connie, I appreciate your comment. I went back and looked at the video of the last meeting, and you’re right. No one mentioned the cancellation of the Tuesday meeting. Kennewick and Pasco seem to have a lot more to talk about than the Richland City Council. Thank you for reading the Observer. Randy
