Richland City Council will consider an 8.5% electricity rate increase at their Tuesday night meeting that starts at 6:00 p.m. at Richland City Hall. The rate increase, that would begin on Jan. 1, is the last thing on the council agenda.
According to the staff report, “This increase is primarily driven by Bonneville Power Administration’s wholesale power increase of 8.9% and 19.9% in transmission costs effective October 1, 2025. Except for Schedule 90: Cable Television Amplifier/Small Cell, the last rate increase for all other rate classes was June 2019.”
The packet information provides details of how much this will mean for residential users as well as commercial and industrial users.
The Richland City Council meeting can be seen live on Cable Channel 192 and Richland City View, which also provides a video soon after the meeting.
Jezz! There increasing our fees for the federal money they refuse to admit they lost. How about cutting the City View account. Richland owns a whole TV station with cameras and scripts and people taking time off days to film shows on You Tube very few ever watch! It’s a total waste of tax .
We shouldn’t be paying for their fun of making show to brag about what little services they offer besides roads and repainting them every summer and making a giant areas where business don’t pay proper taxes and we do instead!
This is a scam to not lay people off like every other government agency is doing now a days.
What about that Fiber Opitc that was laid in city center 15 yeas ago that can give free WiFi to half the city? No mention of all them tax dollar we spent. The city has free WiFi that can feed all of Richland central! But they refuse to let us use it. It was install with the guise we would be allowed to use it in city center and all the businesses will get it also.
I’m waiting to see where those tax dollars went still!
I for one am sick and tired of officials increasing our taxes and we the people receiving nothing in return. We are paying one if not the highest taxes in the country. It’s sad when we get excited for fuel cost dipping below $4 when I’ve seen parts of the country paying less than $2. You liberals vote in a socialist that’s never had a job, a governor that believe it or not is worse than the clown we had for years. At what point do we the people say it’s enough? When we become like the westside? Like California? Keep it up and businesses will leave the east side just like the westside.
