Richland City Council will consider an 8.5% electricity rate increase at their Tuesday night meeting that starts at 6:00 p.m. at Richland City Hall. The rate increase, that would begin on Jan. 1, is the last thing on the council agenda.
According to the staff report, “This increase is primarily driven by Bonneville Power Administration’s wholesale power increase of 8.9% and 19.9% in transmission costs effective October 1, 2025. Except for Schedule 90: Cable Television Amplifier/Small Cell, the last rate increase for all other rate classes was June 2019.”
The packet information provides details of how much this will mean for residential users as well as commercial and industrial users.
The Richland City Council meeting can be seen live on Cable Channel 192 and Richland City View, which also provides a video soon after the meeting.
